Scheidegg waterfalls - natural habitat
Discover the "Rohrachschlucht" habitat and enjoy one of the hundred most beautiful geotopes in Bavaria with a view of a wild and romantic river landscape and the Scheidegg waterfalls. The water of the Rickenbach plunges over two mighty rock steps into the depths: the two waterfalls are 22 metres and 18 metres high and can be admired from several vantage points.
On the descent to the Scheidegg waterfalls, the view opens up to the Rohrach Gorge, which is up to 200 metres deep and enjoys special protected status as the largest nature reserve in the district of Lindau. With its wet and litter meadows, springs, rocky and open areas, the Rohrach Gorge is home to many rare animals and plants. The upper slopes are dominated by mixed forests of beech and fir. On the lower slopes, the ravine forest consists of ash, grey alder and maple.
