Museum of the Bavarian Kings
The Museum of the Bavarian Kings in Hohenschwangau provides an insight into the history of the Wittelsbach dynasty from its beginnings to the present day. The exhibition focuses on King Maximilian II, who had Hohenschwangau Castle converted into a summer residence, and his son, King Ludwig II, the creator of Neuschwanstein Castle. The exhibition is characterised by views of the surrounding landscape and the castles, the subtle use of state-of-the-art, interactive museum technology and expansive staging. Tours in several languages and at different levels of depth cater to the needs of visitors from Germany and abroad. The building owner and patron is the Wittelsbacher Ausgleichsfonds, Munich.
