Glentleiten Open-Air Museum
Experience an exciting day in fascinating surroundings at the largest open-air museum in southern Bavaria. Almost 70 historic buildings, from the forestry hut to the petrol station and whetstone workshop to the farm and mountain pasture, have been preserved in their original state. They have been rebuilt in a cultivated landscape with gardens, meadows and pastures modelled on old examples.
As you stroll through the 40 hectares of varied grounds, you can enjoy spectacular views of the mountains and lakes and stop by one of our workshops - for example in the pottery when the potter shapes jugs and bowls on the wheel. Because we are passionate about traditional crafts: almost 30 specialists show you trades and skills that have often been forgotten.
You can also browse for all kinds of useful items and souvenirs in the Kramerladen, savour homemade cakes and snacks or stop off at the Glentleitner Wirtschaft & Brauerei.
The Glentleiten open-air museum is open from March to November.
