The Tölz City Museum
The Tölz City Museum preserves an outstanding, nationally relevant collection in an architectural jewel. Since its opening in 1886, the museum has been able to present exquisite objects such as the Toerring-Seefeld gala portechaise. In 1982, the collection and exhibition moved to the Bürgerbräu building (former town hall) on Marktstraße, which the renowned architect Gabriel von Seidl had renovated from 1903 in the Heimatstil style.
We build bridges from the past to the present.
Almost 2000 objects on more than 45 independent themes provide historical insights in 38 exhibition areas. On more than 800 square metres, we offer experience spaces that not only appeal to visitors intellectually, but also allow them to look back and look ahead, sometimes placing them in historical scenes and thus making it easier for them to access the themes and exhibits.
