Royal spa garden with graduation house
High-percentage Alpine brine (26%) comes to the graduation house via the brine pipeline from the spring building of the old salt works in Bad Reichenhall, where it is mixed with water and then pumped up into the roof truss of the graduation house. The roof truss is permeable to air and outside temperatures prevail. At the top, the Alpine brine runs into a trough-like container that extends through the entire structure above the thorn fields. A lot of water evaporates through the sprinkling over the thorn wall. The float in the trough controls the water level and is checked several times a day. The automatic wind adjuster (located on the roof) determines on which side the brine should trickle over the blackthorn fields. If the wind is coming from the east, it trickles on the east side (rear side), if the wind is coming from the west, it trickles on the west side (front side by the brine fountain). We then walk on the other side, as the brine is pushed through the thorns by the wind.
