Hohenschwangau Castle
Schwanstein Castle was severely damaged several times during various wars. As a result, the Bavarian Crown Prince Maximilian - later King Maximilian II - came across a ruin that nevertheless fascinated him. From 1833 to 1837, he had it rebuilt into a castle in the neo-Gothic style. The interior is full of murals with themes from the world of medieval legends. The motif of the swan is omnipresent. Hohenschwangau Castle can only be visited as part of a guided tour. Tickets are available from the Hohenschwangau Ticket Centre.
