German Hat Museum
Everything under one hat! 300 years of hat history to touch and put on.
The history of hat making is probably unique. It has made Lindenberg what it is today. Starting with the horse trade and continuing with handcrafted production in families and small businesses, the centre of the German straw hat industry developed in the West Allgäu. Growth, prosperity and worldwide fame followed. The hat museum takes up this theme. Over several decades, Hans Stiefenhofer and Manfred Röhrl have amassed what is probably the most important collection of hat culture. This requires space and an authentic location, which was created with the opening of the German Hat Museum Lindenberg on the premises of the former Ottmar Reich hat factory.
